Discovery and Explorer Elementary students "jumped" at the chance to help fight heart disease and stroke during the 22nd annual Kids Heart Challenge event. The students collected over $25,700 in donations for the American Heart Association. These funds help support cardiovascular research and educational programs throughout our community. The students had a fun time and enjoyed some great exercise with their friends and family members while participating in this healthy service learning event.
Over the past 22 years, Discovery and Explorer Elementary students have contributed around $500,000 to the American Heart Association. In return for our efforts, the American Heart Association has presented our schools with many awards and honors as well as over $42,000 in Fit for Life equipment. The Kids Heart Challenge is truly a win-win situation for all.
Mrs. Jill Fuller and Mr. Heath Plaxton would like to thank all the participants, parents and community members for helping to make this year’s event a huge success. We really appreciate the continued support of everyone involved.
