WCS Hosts Community Conversation on Student Mental Health
Former University of Michigan football player and national student mental health advocate Will Heininger was the featured speaker at three community conversation sessions held at McGoff Performing Arts Center.
Mr. Heininger spent several hours at Williamston High School interacting with students. He conducted two presentations for all high school students and 8th-grade students from Williamston Middle School. The discussions focused on a variety of mental health topics to include anxiety, depression, and suicidal ideation. Mr. Heininger shared his own personal struggles with mental health that he overcame with support during his time as a defensive lineman at U of M.
If you were unable to attend the parent evening, highlights of his message can be seen in the story published by Fox 47 which covered the event. The link to the story can be found here.
Mr. Heininger's visit to Williamston was sponsored by the Williamston Schools Foundation and is part of the District's Be Nice mental health initiative.
