High School Secure Entrance Project
WCS will continue its physical security upgrades by constructing a new secure main entrance at Williamston High School this summer. The project will start after school ends for summer break in June and will be completed before classes resume in the fall.
The high school secure entrance will be the second such project initiated as part of the District's safety goal. A secure vestibule at Williamston Middle School was completed in 2018. Highlights of the project include:
- Entrance canopy
- "Main Entrance" signage
- A secure vestibule leading directly into the main office
- Shatter-resistant glass
- ADA compliant doors
- Updated landscaping
- Upgraded interior office doors
- An integrated storm drainage system
Several other physical security upgrades have already been completed at WHS this year. Examples include sidewalk bollards, additional HD security cameras, an automated emergency alert system, Stop the Bleed triage kit installation, additional AEDs, and window blinds. The project will be funded with the District's recently approved Sinking Fund, which allows for expenditures on school safety initiatives.
