Williamston Mu Alpha Theta Chapter Wins Diane Rubin Service Award
The Mu Alpha Theta (Math Honors Program) chapter at Williamston High School has earned the Diane Rubin Service Award. WHS was the sole chapter in the United States to be honored with this national award. The Rubin Award recognizes the chapter which has made the greatest contributions regarding service to their community.
The award comes with a $5,000 cash prize and a plaque. Students in the WHS chapter have distinguished themselves by hosting a variety of math-oriented events and programs, many of which focus on engaging elementary aged students in the practical application of mathematics concepts. WHS Mu Alpha Theta has also initiated a pioneering tutoring program at the District's middle and elementary schools.
