Be Nice Spirit Week at WCS
Williamston Community Schools held its third annual Be Nice Spirit Week. Be Nice is a student-led organization focusing on defeating the stigma around mental health. The Be Nice Crew also supports anti-bullying initiatives and suicide prevention efforts. Be Nice Spirit Week culminates in the Be Nice Football Game.
The student mental health programming at Williamston High School were highlighted in a feature story produced by WILX. Watch the program by selecting the link here.
Be Nice is an important component of the District’s student mental health and wellness initiative. The action steps promote student awareness of peer mental health. Students learn to use the Notice, Invite, Challenge, and Empower process to seek support for themselves or their classmates. The Be Nice philosophy also promotes daily positive thinking and behaviors. During the Be Nice Spirit Week, students from all district schools participated in age-appropriate activities centered on the Be Nice theme. Mental health resources were shared with parents and community members.
