As a part of the advanced 8th-grade social studies course, students participate in a program called Project Citizen - a 4-step action plan for creating public policy to address an issue in society.

Students researched and proposed public policy that would help to intervene with the issue of drunk driving. Students engaged in taking civic action by surveying their peers, interviewing a local police officer, corresponding with State Representative Julie Brixie, and U.S. Representative Elissa Slotkin, and seeking guidance from the non-profit organization Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD). Competing against schools across the nation, the Drunk Driving Intervention project placed at the highest rating of Superior at the National Showcase.

Congratulations to the students who participated in this project which include Ellie, Evan, Hayden, Jackson, James, Justice, Levi, Logan, Luke, Lydia, and Max.
