WCS Distributes COVID-19 Test Kits

WCS distributed over 520 COVID-19 rapid test kits in advance of the Thanksgiving holiday. The "backpack" kits were acquired through collaboration with MDHHS and provided to staff and students upon parent request. WCS is committed to supporting the health and safety of the Williamston Community.

Covid-19 Test Kit Distribution, Thanksgiving 2022

MDHHS recommends that individuals consider using a self-test before indoor gatherings or being around others who may be at high risk of severe illness. Testing is an important part of the strategy to keep kids in school, staff safe, and vulnerable populations protected.

As a reminder, any student who tests positive or has symptoms of COVID-19 should isolate at home.  Symptoms of COVID- 19 include fever, chills, cough, shortness of breath, fatigue, muscle aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, vomiting, diarrhea, and skin rashes.

The health and safety of our school community is important to us all. COVID-19 testing for staff and students is just one of many ways our school is working to help keep our school community safe and healthy.  Washing hands often, staying home when you are sick, and getting vaccinated all remain important safety measures.

A special thank you to District School Nurse Amanda Gailitis and COVID-19 Testing Coordinator Dianne Evans for planning and facilitating the test kit distribution plan.
