WCS Teacher Honored by VFW
Williamston High School Teacher Steve Kersten was honored by the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) as a candidate for their Teacher of the Year award. Mr. Kersten was selected as the Regional and District Teacher of the Year Award winner and has advanced to be a state finalist.
Mr. Kersten was selected as Teacher of the Year by VFW Post 6464 in Fowlerville by a panel that included State Senator Lana Theis and State Representative Robert Bezotte. The VFW selects teachers for this award based on a number of characteristics, including evidence of innovative teaching practices, community involvement, and utilization of instructional resources. Mr. Kersten has been recognized at two award banquets thus far as a part of this honor.
Mr. Kersten teaches robotics and mathematics at Williamston High School. He is also the head coach of the Williamston Football Team and the advisor for the Innovative Vehicle Design club at WHS.
