Little Hornets Preschool and Kids’ Corner Child care Earn “Demonstrating Quality” Rating!

Kids’ Corner Child Care and Little Hornets Preschool achieved the highest rating of “Demonstrating Quality” from Great Start to Quality upon the completion of an intensive Quality Improvement process. This accomplishment highlights our unwavering commitment to providing the highest standards of care and education for children.
Great Start to Quality is Michigan's system that helps families choose and find quality child care and preschool, and helps programs improve the quality of their services. The rating system is based on best practices and research-based indicators that lead to positive outcomes for children.
The process includes a rigorous, year-long sequence of self-assessment, goal-setting, and continuous improvement. Evidence of program policies and implementation is validated against quality indicators from each of the following categories.
- Staff Qualifications and Professional Development
- Curriculum and Instruction
- Administration and Management
- Family and Community Engagement
- Environment, Health, and Safety
The final stages include a comprehensive onsite observation of both school age and preschool classrooms by a trained Great Start to Quality validator. Focusing primarily on the interactions between educators and the children, the validator observed how teachers communicated with children, how they supported children's emotional and social development, and how they facilitated learning through play and activities.The physical environment was also assessed to ensure it is safe, well-organized, stimulating, and conducive to learning for all age groups.
A Demonstrating Quality rating is achieved when both the validation process and onsite observation meet or exceed high threshold levels.
The successful completion of this process confirmed that our commitment to quality is evident throughout our program, giving the children in our care the strongest possible foundation for success in school and in life.
