Administration

Dr. Adam Spina serves as Superintendent of the Williamston Community Schools. Prior to being named Superintendent, he worked in several different capacities within the district including Director of Curriculum and Assessment, Principal of Explorer Elementary, and taught at both the elementary and secondary levels. In addition to his time in Williamston, Dr. Spina previously served as the Preschool and Elementary Principal with the American School of Valencia in Valencia, Spain, and taught with the East Grand Rapids Public Schools.

Dr. Spina was a member of the Board of Directors for the Williamston Area Chamber of Commerce for over six years and actively participates in several local service organizations. Dr. Spina retired from the Army National Guard as a Lieutenant Colonel and is a veteran of Iraq and Afghanistan. He is a graduate of numerous Army service schools.

Dr. Spina earned a doctoral degree in educational administration from Bethel University, a master's degree in history from Michigan State University, and a bachelor’s degree in education, also from MSU. He was awarded a certificate in Advanced Intercultural Management from the University of Notre Dame. Dr. Spina was named the 2019 M.S.T.A. Administrator of the Year in Michigan and was a 2018 nominee for Michigan Superintendent of the Year.

Dr. Spina is married to Vanessa Nieto Arroyo. They have two children.

Michelle Rosa serves as the Director of Student Services, bringing over 25 years of experience in educational leadership, special education, program development, compliance, and student-centered practices. Before joining Williamston Community Schools, she held a variety of leadership and instructional roles with Ingham Intermediate School District, including Associate Principal for Emotional Impairment and Adjudicated Youth Programs, Director of Student Support Services, Director of Program Accountability, Director of Programs for Students with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Teacher Consultant, and Special Education Teacher.

Michelle is dedicated to improving outcomes for all students and has led initiatives focused on special education compliance, staff development, data-informed decision-making, and inclusive educational programming. She also served as an Adjunct Instructor at Lansing Community College, preparing future educators in reading instruction and special education.

Michelle holds an Education Specialist degree in K–12 Administration from Michigan State University, Supervisor of Special Education Approval from Saginaw Valley State University, a Master of Arts in Special Education and a Bachelor of Science in Special Education from Western Michigan University, and an Autism Spectrum Disorder endorsement from Grand Valley State University.

Michelle lives in Williamston with her family. In her free time, she enjoys reading and spending time with family and friends.

Ms. Sarah Tynan serves as the Director of Finance for Williamston Community Schools, where she oversees financial planning, budgeting, and fiscal operations. She earned her Master of Accounting from Walsh College in 2019 and her Bachelor of Science from Michigan State University in 2014. Ms. Tynan is a Certified Public Accountant licensed in the State of Michigan and has held her CPA license since 2020. Additionally, she completed the MSBO Business Manager's Academy in 2022 in order to better serve our District.

In her free time, Ms. Tynan enjoys competing with her horses, spending time with her dogs, reading, and staying active through fitness and outdoor activities.

Mr. James Doyen currently serves as Director of Technology for Williamston Community Schools. He began his career with the district as a Technology Technician in January of 2018. He was later promoted to the position of Technology Support Specialist, in July of 2019, before being offered the opportunity to serve as Supervisor of Technology starting in July of 2021. On July 1, 2023, he was promoted to the role of Director of Technology.

Mr. Doyen earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Information Technology from Western Governors University, and has acquired numerous professional information technology certifications, including AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate, Comptia A+, Comptia Network+, Comptia Project+, Comptia Security+, HashiCorp Certified Terraform Associate, ITIL® Foundation Certificate in IT Service Management, and Linux Professional Institute Linux Essentials.

Mr. Chris Armour currently serves as the Principal of Williamston High School.  Previously, Mr. Armour was the assistant principal at WHS for six years.  Before moving into administration, Mr. Armour was a classroom teacher for ten years in the district and taught a variety of math and science classes at both the Middle and High Schools. Outside of teaching, Mr. Armour has served in various roles including coaching football and wrestling, science department chair, as well as the President of the Williamston Educational Association.  

Mr. Armour holds a Master of Arts in Educational Technology and Bachelor of Science in Physics degrees from Michigan State University.  

In his free time, Mr. Armour enjoys coaching, watching sports, traveling and spending time at the family cottage with his wife Jayme and their four children.

Mr. Tim Standlee is beginning his first year as Assistant Principal at Williamston High School. Mr. Standlee previously worked in secondary administration with the Boise School District in Idaho for over 20 years. Before moving into administration, Mr. Standlee taught Health, Fitness, and Accelerated Fitness. 

In recent years, Mr. Standlee’s work has centered on improving student learning through Student Clarity initiatives and supporting the District's transition to Standards-Based Reporting. He also dedicated many years to coaching football and baseball.

Mr. Standlee earned a Master of Education in Educational Administration from the University of Idaho and a Bachelor of Education from Eastern Oregon University.

Outside of school, Mr. Standlee enjoys spending time with his family, especially his new granddaughter.

Mr. Adam Supianoski currently serves as the Principal of Williamston Middle School.  He was previously the school's Assistant Principal for four years. Prior to joining WCS, Mr. Supianoski was employed by Coldwater Community Schools for seventeen years, where he served as the middle school Assistant Principal.  Before moving into administration, he taught social studies, math, and physical education at the middle school level as well as various teaching positions at the elementary level.  In addition to teaching, he also coached football, basketball, and track at the middle and high school levels.

Mr. Supianoski earned a Bachelor of Science in education from Central Michigan University, a master’s degree in education from Indiana Wesleyan University, and an educational administrative certificate from Concordia University. 

Mr. Supianoski and his wife Kate have two children and enjoy spending time together traveling and attending sporting events. 

Mrs. Stephanie Chandel began her educational career 22 years ago, teaching science and reading in Jackson and Lansing before spending the last 19 years at Haslett Middle School. While at Haslett, she taught middle school science and health, coached track, volleyball, and basketball, and served as an advisor for the yearbook. Committed to her school community, she has regularly served as a department chair and teacher mentor.

Her extensive background is supported by a Master of Arts in Middle Level Education from Central Michigan University, as well as a Bachelor’s Degree in Education and Public Health Promotion. Additionally, she recently earned her School Administrator Certificate to complement her teaching credentials.

Outside of the classroom, Mrs. Chandel has been a proud member of the Williamston community for 20 years. She enjoys life with her husband, Mike, their three children, and the family dog. As avid MSU fans, they spend much of their time together at swim meets, soccer games, and watching various sporting events.

Mrs. Kathryn Kluzak serves as the Principal of Explorer Elementary School. Previously, Mrs. Kluzak taught for nine years at East Lansing Public Schools. She served in various leadership roles, taught kindergarten, and taught special education resource room for kindergarten through fifth grade students. In 2023, Mrs. Kluzak was recognized as Michigan's Educator of the Year by the Michigan Lottery Excellence in Education program.

Mrs. Kluzak earned an educational administrative certificate from Eastern Michigan University. In addition, she holds a master's degree in special education from Saint Joseph's University and a bachelor's degree in Childhood/Early Childhood Education, with a minor in mathematics, from SUNY Potsdam.

Mrs. Kluzak and her husband Josh have one daughter. She enjoys running, traveling, and spending time with family up North and at their family cabin in the Adirondacks.

Mrs. Cassie Pfander serves as Discovery Elementary Principal. Prior to joining the team in Williamston, Mrs. Pfander taught for 14 years at Howell Public Schools. She served in various leadership roles, taught kindergarten, third grade, fifth grade, and worked as a reading specialist. 

In addition to earning an education specialist degree from the University of Michigan - Flint, Mrs. Pfander holds a master's degree in reading from Eastern Michigan University, and a bachelor's degree in elementary education with an early childhood education endorsement from Alma College.

Mrs. Pfander enjoys reading and boating with her husband, Rick.

Mrs. Leslie Wertz serves as the Student Services Coordinator for Discovery and Explorer Elementary Schools. Mrs. Wertz brings more than two decades of experience in education, student support, and family engagement. Throughout her career, she has served in a variety of roles focused on helping students overcome barriers to success, strengthening school-family partnerships, and creating opportunities for all learners to thrive.

Mrs. Wertz earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education from the University of Michigan and a Master of Arts in Education from Saint Catherine University. She is currently pursuing a Master of Social Work degree at Michigan State University. In addition, she holds certifications in Montessori education, social-emotional learning, yoga instruction, and youth mental health. She is also an Aspiring Leaders Fellow through Teach Michigan for Educational Leadership.

Mrs. Wertz is passionate about supporting the academic, social-emotional, and behavioral success of students while collaborating with families, staff, and community partners to ensure every child feels connected, supported, and valued.
Mrs. Wertz and her husband Nate have been married for 25 years and have three children. She enjoys pottery, traveling, and spending time with family and friends at Houghton Lake.

Mr. Brandon Weingartz currently serves as the Director of Facilities and Operations for Williamston Community Schools.  Previous to joining Williamston Community Schools, Mr. Weingartz worked for the Detroit Tigers as Manager of Park Operations for over 10 years.  In the years spent with the Detroit Tigers, some memorable experiences include attendance at seven Major League Baseball All-Star games and assisting with the production of the Red Carpet Parade.

Mr. Weingartz earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Administration from Central Michigan University.  Mr. Weingartz is a member of the International Facility Management Association.

Mr. Weingartz and his wife Katie have three daughters.  In his free time, Mr. Weingartz enjoys spending time with his family, being at Higgins Lake, hunting and fishing.  Mr. Weingartz also enjoys sports and has been to 15 Major League Baseball stadiums.

Mr. Paige Paulsen serves as the Director of Athletics and Enrichment for the Williamston Community Schools. Prior to his tenure at WCS, he worked in the same capacity with the Grant Public Schools where he also coached varsity girls’ basketball.  Mr. Paulsen previously coached NCAA Division II basketball at Wayne State College in Wayne, Nebraska.

Mr. Paulsen earned a master’s degree in organizational management from Wayne State College and a bachelor’s degree in sociology for the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM). He was a member of the basketball team at UWM from 2005 to 2008. After the conclusion of his college career, Mr. Paulsen played professional basketball in Spain.

Mr. Paulsen is married to Morgan Paulsen, they have two children.

James Davis currently serves as the Food Service Director of the Williamston Community Schools and Haslett Public Schools.  Prior to being named Food Service Director, James held positions as Director of Culinary for Notre Dame Preparatory School and Marist Academy as well as Director of Dining Services for Saline Public Schools.  James brings 35+ years of food service experience, a wealth of knowledge, and an incredible passion to the schools and communities he serves.  In addition, James also holds his Foodservice Management Professional (FMP) and ServSafe certifications.

As an Army veteran, James is very active serving and volunteering within the veteran community.  He is a board member and the treasurer of Veterans Connected, a charity dedicated to connecting veterans and families to resources within their communities.  James also volunteers with the Reboot Recovery Program that assists veterans and first responders who experience post-traumatic stress. 

James is married to Victoria Davis and enjoys spending time with family and their three grandchildren.

Mrs. Olsen has been employed with the Williamston Community School District since 2000 and is now assuming her new role of Director of Kids' Corner and Little Hornets Preschool. Through her years at Williamston, she has been a teacher to the district’s youngest learners in the Little Hornet Preschool programs. Concurrently with her teaching position, Mrs. Olsen has also served in the capacities of Early Years MTSS Coach and Early Childhood Specialist focusing on program and teacher professional development. Prior to Williamston, Mrs. Olsen worked as an Early Childhood Specialist at Lansing Community College Early LCC and Oakland University Lowry Center. 

Mrs. Olsen earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Child Development from Michigan State University with post-graduate work in Curriculum and Instruction from Oakland University.

Mrs. Olsen is married to Brad Olsen and together have one daughter.

Robert Keith brings a rare combination of hands-on transportation experience and deep community roots to his role supporting Williamston Community Schools' transportation department. Known to many as Rob, he has served as a school bus driver for the district since 2022, safely transporting students while developing a thorough understanding of district routes, vehicle maintenance protocols, and safety standards.

Rob's connection to Williamston runs deep — both of his children have attended Williamston schools, with his son graduating in 2026 and his daughter a member of the Class of 2029. He and his wife, Lisa, call this community home, and that investment shapes how he approaches his work every day — not just as a job, but as a responsibility to his neighbors.

Beyond driving, Rob has served the district as a Middle School Noon Aide and as Assistant Coach for 7th Grade Boys' Basketball, mentoring student-athletes in teamwork and sportsmanship. His career reflects a lifelong commitment to young people, with prior experience in youth development, educational technology, and program leadership, including work with Michigan State University Extension's 4-H program and as Director of Youth Christian Education at The Peoples Church.

Rob holds a B.S. in Psychology and an M.A. in Educational Technology and Instructional Design, both from Michigan State University.

In his role leading the transportation team, Rob is committed to the same values that guided his time as a driver - reliability, professionalism, and an unwavering focus on student safety - while working to support and mentor fellow drivers.
