  • Virtual Learning Opportunity

Williamston Community Schools has become part of the Virtual Learning Academy (VLAC) Consortium in order to provide an opportunity for those wishing to homeschool their students. VLAC is a high-quality, home-based virtual learning opportunity for students in Kindergarten - Twelfth grade. The VLAC program is a public school option for parents (and other caregivers) preferring a flexible, home-based environment and who are willing to guide their child's learning.

    • There is no cost to the student
    • Equipment is provided if needed (computer, printer/scanner and internet access)
    • Each program is tailored to the individual student
    • It is a blended program, not all work is done online
    • VLAC uses the world-renowned Calvert Education curriculum
    • Mentor teachers are provided
    • Parental guidance is necessary
    • The program is open to all grades but students in grades 10-12 must have a referral from WCS

VLAC registration for the 2020-21 school year is now open. Please click VLAC.org  or call 248.209.2071 for further information.

Students who wish to enroll in VLAC must also submit enrollment paperwork to Williamston Community Schools. Please contact Pam Reinke @ 517.655.4361 x 5116 or reinkep@gowcs.net to receive the enrollment paperwork.

VLAC is a full-year commitment, students must complete their year at VLAC before they are able to return to a WCS building. However, in some cases, second-semester only enrollment is possible with district approval.
