Welcome to Williamston Community Schools, a 2018 State of Michigan Academic Champion District! Whether you are a long-time resident of the community or a prospective parent or student interested in learning about our school system, I invite you to explore our website to find out what makes WCS such an exceptional district. From our widely recognized early literacy programming to our unique variety of elementary related arts classes, engineering and robotics labs, award-winning bands, or 19 Advanced Placement courses, there is something for every learner here.
Our mission is to ensure every learner is college and career ready. Our graduates will be prepared to make important contributions as knowledgeable global citizens in an ever-evolving world. We strive to achieve this goal by utilizing innovative, evidence-based instruction, developing progressive educational policies, and maintaining relevant programming. I encourage you to check our website frequently and subscribe to the RSS feeds embedded within the site (the "Buzz," Superintendent's Blog, and Announcements sections) for updates on how we are implementing this vision. It is truly an exciting time to be a part of our school community!
Though we pride ourselves on being an innovative district, the core of our school system is centered on our commitment to the success of each individual learner. The progress of every student is continuously assessed by a team of teachers throughout their educational journey. This collaborative model ensures the support and guidance provided to students and parents includes the professional expertise of a team of highly skilled educators. Contact one of our schools to discover how Multi-Tiered Systems of Supports (MTSS) can make a difference in your child’s learning here at WCS.
Finally, the strength of our district is our teachers. Students have the unique opportunity to learn from a world-class team of educators. In fact, eight (8) Williamston teachers have earned Teacher of the Year honors from various professional organizations, including the overall Michigan Teacher of the Year award in 2006 and a finalist for that distinction in 2017! Our teachers serve on numerous state and national education boards, present at a wide variety of conferences, and are actively involved in cocurricular and/or service organizations throughout the community. Most importantly, they deliver an unparalleled educational experience for each student, in every classroom, every day.
The best way to know what makes Williamston so special is to experience it. Visit our community, tour a school, and see for yourself what all the “buzz” is about. If you are already a community member, thank you for your support and commitment to our schools and students. See you around town!
Go Hornets! Go Williamston!
