Health

Welcome

Student health and safety are a top priority at Williamston Community Schools. As your district health team, we want you to know that we are here to provide help and answer any questions that you may have about school health. If your student has a persistent health condition like asthma or severe allergies, we encourage you to contact the district nurse to help your student manage their health needs at school. Our health team consists of one district nurse and one student health assistant. While a nurse is not stationed in every school building, our district nurse provides training, oversight, and direction to ensure students’ health needs are met each day. We work closely with all members of the school team to help your student achieve success in the school setting. Please do not hesitate to contact us!

What is a School Nurse?

School nursing, a specialized practice of nursing, protects and promotes student health, facilitates optimal development, and advances academic success. School nurses, grounded in ethical and evidence-based practice, are the leaders who bridge health care and education, provide care coordination, advocate for quality student-centered care, and collaborate to design systems that allow individuals and communities to develop their full potential.
